Two Parties Sitting Around a Table in Discussion with a Mediator

Colorado Mediation

Mediation truly is a positive means to conflict solution and allows you to make the decisions and to move forward with your life.

Today increasing numbers of Bill’s clients are going to mediation because they understand constructive conflict resolution is more likely to result in benefits for everyone concerned, as well as a faster solution.

Bill Kneeland will help you and the party with whom you’re in conflict meet each other to develop an equitable resolution.

Benefits of Mediation:

  • Mediation is productive, cost-effective and time-efficient
  • Mediation is solution oriented
  • Mediation focuses on resolving issues and problems instead of on blaming
  • Mediation allows parties to control decisions that affect their lives and organizations
  • Mediation focuses on the future, not the past
  • Mediation teaches you negotiation, conflict management, and communication skills that can be used in subsequent conflicts
  • Mediation reduces win/lose outcomes where one party walks away feeling defeated and vindictive

When to Use Mediation

With mediation, Bill Kneeland helps his clients turn acrimonious situations into positive conclusions. You and other mediation participants can create your own resolution rather than having the resolution imposed upon you by an outside entity, specifically the court.

Many conflict situations benefit from mediation:

What can I expect?

Most often, two to four sessions, depending upon the extent of the issues. Sessions are conducted in a respectful, professional setting. Parties arrive at mutually agreed upon agenda and issues are dealt with systematically. Relevant information is gathered from both sides to help create clear and tangible objectives. The ultimate goal of a mediation is a final, written agreement, or Memorandum of Understanding.

What about attorneys?

You are welcome and encouraged to use an attorney to review any agreement. Mediation is non-binding and parties voluntarily enter into the process in good faith.

The state of Colorado Office of Dispute Resolution reports that 80 percent of mediated cases are successfully resolved. If mediation does not work for you, none of your legal rights have been compromised. You are always free to leave mediation and pursue litigation in the courts.

Bill Kneeland is also a partner in Associates In Conflict Management, LLP., if you prefer co-mediations (two mediators, generally a male and a female). If interest see the Associates In Conflict Management page.
